Russian Ban on Snus

Hi guys, it appears Russia has finally done something about the ban that we heard about back in 2013, by introducing a new bill effectively banning Snus (technically, just like in the UK, it seems to cover the retail and wholesale trade of Snus, referred to in the bill as ‘Sucking Tobacco’).

Apparently, the bill was drafted to ‘further reduce smoking and to prevent the proliferation of new smokeless tobacco products in Russia.’

According to RAPSI News (listed below), ‘Snus is a form of smokeless tobacco product. It is placed under the upper lip for extended periods. Snus is not fermented and contains no added sugar, but tobacco content in one portion of snus is approximately five times greater than in a cigarette.’

Well I know some of us might actually pack our faces with that much Snus, but lets be honest, this seems wildly inaccurate considering one portion weighs about 1g moist, and one cigarette weighs  about the same.

Edit: after reading a separate article (http://lenta.ru/news/2015/12/22/snus/) this seems to be a mistranslation or misunderstanding by RAPSI News)

If you want to have a read of the article I found on the subject, please find it below:
